The Elders of Collioure

In 2007, Jérôme’s vision for his art and business began to take shape, marking a transformative chapter in his journey as an artist. "That year was definitely a pivotal time in my artistic life," he reflects. "I did my first major fine art exhibits, and that really turned things around for me." One of these key exhibits, The Elders of Collioure, was introduced to the public by the mayor of Collioure and celebrated the lives of the town’s elderly, honoring their deep-rooted cultural heritage and individual stories. The experience fueled Jérôme’s passion, motivating him to reach new heights in his work.

"It gave me a boost in confidence; I realized I could be good at this," Jérôme shared. "And I loved creating that kind of art." This newfound clarity also led him to rebrand as Jérôme Photographer, embracing a name that reflected his fine art focus and added a deeply personal element to his work.

The Elders of Collioure captures Collioure’s elders in a stunning series of black-and-white images. Each portrait reveals a story: the 87-year-old fisherman who still rows his boat into the misty bay each morning in solitude; the craftsman skillfully creating miniature Catalan-style fishing boats by hand; and the men dedicated to the ancient art of hand-weaving fishing traps. But Jérôme’s images go beyond preserving tradition. Each portrait embodies the deeper essence of these lives—the love and care of the people who surround them, bringing true meaning and vibrancy to their days.
